Get to Know Us
when making this track, I was greatly inspired by the genres edm, and hyperpop two of my all time favorites genres. I've spent the past 10 years learning production and sound design within in my own research solely on edm alone as dubstep was my favorite sub genre.
starting with the drums I used a variation to stop it from being repetative through out the entire track. I used a drum fill in measure 16 to give it a break before it drops into the verse of the track. I took some of the notes out in the first half of the drop to give the track even more variation.
I believe the track is in the key of C minor. the harmony chords I used were
G# M | GM | CM |D# M following the chord progression I took the same chords and made an arpeggiated sound to give the song more feel. I had a lot of fun altering some the sounds and layering them to bring more life to the track. I created a melody to bring the track together.
I recorded a verse for this track after listening to it I started mumbling and humming to it that I started writing down lyrics. I took about 3 hours to get a good take as I had to adjust my mic level and wait for it to be quite so my mic didn't pic up any unwanted sounds. I used a synthesizer to make a riser to build suspense for the drop. and used an impact to make the drop sound a little more dramatic.
I've used quite a bit of mixing techniques I've learned. starting with eqing some of the tracks to get the sounds I wanted and cut out any unwanted frequencies. followed with compression to help the dynamics of my vocals and clean them up.
as most hyper pop music use a pitch shifter to change to vocals to higher. I used logics pitch shifter to bring that effect to my vocal chain. I used some delay and reverb to give my vocals more depth and width.for the final mix I went through and balanced out my sounds as to what I think sounds good so nothing is fighting with one another and some of the sounds that were meant to sit in the back weren't so apparent to be heard. just enough to compliment the track.
